Halfway there…

October 30, 2007

My fundraising goals for the Boston Marathon are halfway accomplished–only $2,500 to go! Please keep those donations coming. Buy a Mayorga gift card, attend our charity art auction, or just buy a raffle ticket (details coming soon). Every little bit helps.

How you can help

October 28, 2007

Dear Friends,

When I wrote to you last year about my training for the Florence Marathon, I did so with some trepidation—after all, at that point I wasn’t sure that I had it in me to complete a full marathon. Turns out that I did, and what’s more, I so enjoyed running that I have since completed the Charlottesville Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon this October.

I am once more asking for your support to enable me to run the Boston Marathon next April. Even though I have been getting faster, I would never stand a chance of qualifying for this run through regular channels (the qualifying time for my age group is 3 hours 20 minutes). However, the AIDS Marathon program has made available a few slots to runners willing to fundraise for the fight against AIDS. So, if all goes according to plan, I will get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to run the granddaddy of all marathons and raise money for a wonderful cause at the same time.

The money I raise will benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, a non-profit that provides direct medical care, food, housing, and other important AIDS services—to help keep people alive until there’s a cure. This is why I am committed to raise at least $5,000 before December 31st, although I would like to raise even more. I’m asking for your support. Any donation you can make to help me meet my goal would be most appreciated! It only takes a few moments to make a contribution that could enhance the life of someone living with HIV/AIDS.

Preparing for Heartbreak Hill in Boston will be the next challenge for me as I run marathons—but I am confident that with your help I can make it over that hill and to the finish line. Thank you for supporting me in this tremendous undertaking. When I hit the road in April to complete the marathon, I’ll know that you helped me and many others along the way.

Thank you so much!

Stefan
